The statistics are alarming: an estimated 88,000 people die from alcohol-related causes annually, excessive alcohol use accounts for 1 of 10 deaths among working-age adults, and drug overdoses are now the leading cause of death among Americans under 50. Locally, who among us has not felt the impact of this crisis? We at Ithaca Community Recovery are thankful for the many people who are in recovery from these addictions and who have created a vibrant and caring community of support and compassion. We believe this amazing community deserves an amazing place to gather! For the past 17 years, ICR has provided the local recovery community with a home base at 518 West Seneca Street. Our commitment is to make 518 safe, affordable, and amazing—and to keep it open every day, 365 days a year. Once a year, we reach out to you for help in doing this.
As we approach our 2017 annual fundraising campaign, we are grateful for the ongoing support of our donors. Thanks to your amazing generosity, we have finally renovated the basement bathrooms! This was a huge project but such a big improvement for our building. In addition, we now have motion lights throughout the building and are putting the finishing touches on our new security system. With our strategic plan in place, we are looking at future improvements and hoping this will be the year that we finally replace our worn carpets.
Again this year we are asking for your help. We are an all-volunteer board committed to maintaining this building for all who choose to come. We receive no government funding. While two-thirds of our operating expenses are met by the rents we receive from the groups who meet here, the balance comes from our fundraising efforts and supporters like you.
As a 501(c)3 organization, we will provide a tax receipt for all donations, which are fully tax-deductible. Thank you in advance for your support.
