Annual Fundraising Campaign Letter

October 9, 2018

Greetings,

I wish I could say that the statistics about drug and alcohol abuse and addiction are less alarming this year, but you probably already know that this is not the case.  And probably you or someone close to you has felt the impact.  As a society and as a nation, we continue to search for answers and solutions.  We at Ithaca Community Recovery know that mutual aid groups like AA, NA and others are often a crucial part of the answer.  We’re continually grateful for the caring and vibrant recovery community we have here in Ithaca, and we’re honored to play a part in supporting this community.  For the past 18 years, ICR has provided a home base for the recovery community, hosting over 60 meetings each week as well as a variety of recovery-based events throughout the year here at 518 West Seneca Street, the building we are dedicated to maintaining and improving.

As we launch our 2018 annual fundraising campaign, we are thankful for the ongoing support of our donors. Thanks to your generosity, our second floor has undergone an amazing transformation this past year and we’ve been able to create two additional, smaller meeting rooms and add a children’s playroom. Already, these are seeing lots of use, and they’re so spiffy that we decided to paint the rest of the upstairs to complete the look. Please come up and see for yourself. We are delighted with all the progress at 518, but with a building that dates back to 1909, there is always more to be done.

Again this year we are asking for your help. We are an all-volunteer board committed to maintaining this building for all who choose to come. We receive no government funding. While two-thirds of our operating expenses are met by the rents we receive from the groups who meet here, the balance comes from our fundraising efforts and supporters like you.

As a 501(c)3 organization, we will provide a tax receipt for all donations, which are fully tax-deductible. Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions or concerns, or just want more information, please contact me at 607-277-4205, or email me at info@ithacacommunityrecovery.org. For your convenience, you may also donate on-line at www.ithacacommunityrecovery.org/donate.html.

With Kind Regards,

jesig
