Dear members and friends of the 518 community,
Ithaca Community Recovery (ICR) plays an invaluable role in helping people whose lives are affected by addiction. One of the most important ways that we reach this community is by providing dedicated space for members of our community to practice recovery, fellowship and service. Specifically, ICR supports the building at 518 West Seneca Street, fondly known as 518.
Time takes a toll …
For more than 100 years, 518 has provided a home for members of our community to reside, worship and, most recently, recover. Designed by famed local architect William Henry Miller in 1909, 518 today continues to provide a critical safe haven for our community by renting space to many 12-step recovery groups and others focused on health and well-being.
While the building has been maintained with care, the time has come for much-needed repairs to ensure the safety, security and historical integrity of the building.
This year’s special appeal …
To this end, the goal of this year’s annual fundraising campaign is to support much-needed renovations to 518. Upgrades will include installation of energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning, and updates to the main entrance to the building partially necessitated because of the sewer project. Planned improvements will make meeting rooms quieter, cooler and brighter and make the building more energy efficient – reducing costs – while beautifying the building façade.
Your support of this year’s ICR campaign will go far beyond bricks and mortar – or even pipes and drains. It will support an enduring commitment to the important – and at times, life-saving – work being done at 518 West Seneca Street and throughout our community.
Your tax-deductible donation will directly help us carry the message of recovery to those who need it most. We don’t do this alone – and hope we can count on your support.
Thank you in advance for considering this to be among your fundraising priorities. For your convenience, please return a donation in the envelope provided (make checks payable to Ithaca Community Recovery) or make a donation online at http://ithacacommunityrecovery.org/donate.html.
